Joe's Cloud Computing, Inc. has started shared hosting business as Joe's Web Hosting in July 2002, New Haven, CT. Then, our colocation moved to Fremont, California to launch dedicated servers and colocation services in 2005.
Joe's now has started virtualized private servers (VPS) and private cloud services because the existing cloud infrastructure services seek only lower prices. Joe's VPS is actually the least expensive ($7.5 monthly) but seeks satisfaction of various users: some need their favorite OS (FreeBSD, Windows, Debian, etc. as well as Cent OS) and customized kernels, and others need control panels such as cPanel and Plesk for taking care of the servers.
Joe's prepares three virtualizations: KVM (Kernel-based Virtualized Machine), LXC (Linux Container), and Virtuozzo by Parallels. KVM provides full virtualization and emulates any X86 machine so that any OS is available as long as the OS rums on X86. The system runs on CloudStack, popular private cloud software provided by Citrix, so NAT, firewall, load balancing are available. KVM would be the best choice for professional users and software developers.
On the other hand, Virtuozzo has little overhead compared with KVM because one shared kernel takes care of many virtual machines (containers). However, Virtuozzo is not Linux standard but being provided as a patch of Linux. So, the latest kernels cannot be run on Virtiozzo until a new patch appears. Joe's successfully provides LXC that is Linux standard as a VPS service commercially first in the world (2011). The combination of LXC and cPanel would be the best for managing several sites.
Joe's also recommends Virtuozzo for Windows users and Plesk fans. I believe that Joe's is the most unique cloud service in the world. Enjoy!
